The first Tibet tour of 2011 came to an end today as the group returned to Lhasa. The main road was closed due to road contruction, but that didn't matter at all, because the detour was just spectacular: two major mountain passes, a twisty road along a beautiful lake, and snow-covered 25,000 ft peaks as a backdrop. We took the same road a couple of days ago, but this time we headed the other way and believe it or not - the scenery looked completely different.
It was a spectacular tour in a spectacular country - unforgettable!
This is Yamdrok tso, a sacred lake, situated at 15,000 ft above sea level What a gorgeous lake Our trusty GS once again completed a loop through Tibet The tour members display their souvenirs: thangkas, Buddhas, and yak bags... looking back we have to admit that this was an amazing tour!
