Last riding day of this beautiful tour! We left Matera under a beautiful blue sky and we headed to Castelmezzano for a very chilly coffee break in the "small Dolomites". After that, many curves took us back to the Campania region where, thanks to a flat tyre, we could enjoy a last break near the Amalfi Coast before reaching Napoli.
Thank you for a beautiful week together, folks, have safe rides and keep the rubber side down!!!
Looking at the weather forecast (and the temperatures as well!), we decided to reach the Adriatic coast today and complete the "Coast to Coast" of Southern Italy! So we first headed to Alberobello, a town famous for its unique Trulli buildings, and then to Polignano a Mare, with its gorgeous historical centre located on a cliff above the sea. After a very good lunch and (of course) a gelato, we rode back to Matera in time for another walk before going out for dinner. Enjoy the pictures of today!
What a temperature drop today! Around three or four degree in the morning (celsius, of course!), and also around lunch time the temperature was not above 10! Fortunately it was not a very long ride, we stopped in Venosa for a cofee break and paid homage to Frederick II in Castel del Monte, before reaching Matera in time for a warm shower and then a guided walk through the historical centre (called Sassi), that is a Unesco World Heritage site.
The longest riding day so far, around 300 kilometres that took us to the region of Basilicata, in the "deepest" south of Italy. After leaving the Abruzzo National Park, we rode through the Matese mountains and, after that, the landscape started to change and the mountains left place to nice green hills and cultivated fields. We reached Melfi in time for a ride through its beautiful historical centre and a picture from its castle. Another beautiful day!
What a great rest-day ride through the beautiful landscapes of this region! Perfect weather with good temperature, tasty food... and great motorcycles of course! What else could we ask for? We left Pescasseroli and headed to the old town of Sulmona with a beautiful ride on the Passo Godi and through the Sagittario Gorges. Then, after a "gelato" break, we rode back to Pescasseroli and, on the way, we stopped in Alfedena for lunch. After that, there was the possibility of an optional "afternoon loop"... and of course everybody took the chance!
Greetings from Southern Italy, where another amazing Edelweiss tour has just began! We are going to ride through places which have not yet attracted massive tourism, and we are all eager to explore the area! Today we left the busy Naples and we rode along the coast direction northward until we reached the pretty village of Sperlonga. After that, we said goodbye to the sea and hit the curvy roads of the Aurunci mountains and the Forca d'Acero that took us to the Abruzzo National Park. Enjoy the pictures and stay tuned!
