Today is race day.
With the MotoGP race in Mugello the highlight of the tour is on the program.
150000 visitors and we are there

DAY 6: Siena to Florence
It goes north!
Florence is waiting for us - but it has still 210 kilometers to complete.
Volterra, San Gimignano and the Chianti region are the highlights on our way to the capital of Tuscany.
In fantastic weather, we are approaching the absolute highlight of the tour - the Moto GP race in Mugello.

San Gimignano - also called Manhattan of Italy.
14 towers make the silouette of the city between Siena and Florence unique!

Shopping tour of our Brazilian couple!

Christoph throws himself into a pose

Jane and James just before the start ....

San Gimignano - awaits us

Osteria Baccan in San Gimignano - once again fantastic food and a unique place

Perhaps we should exchange our Multistradas

Greve in Chianti - awaits us with a beautiful main square

I caught the boar

At the end of the day, there is a fantastic view of Florence

Thanks for another great day - James, Jane, Colette, Ruben, Mark, Christoph, Martin, Eurico and Elizabeth .....

Sunset over the river Arno
DAY 5: Loop south of Siena
Is there anything better than a good breakfast to climb a Ducati and have 200 kilometers with great curves ahead?
I do not think so!
Day 5 of our tour of Umbria and Tuscany proves it!
Alongside great streets, we also visit the historic monuments of Monastery of San Galgano and Abbey Sant'Antimo.
With the town of Montalcino, we also visit the center of Brunello winegrowing.
So it is another great day ....

Tourguide Manuel and Christoph on the way to the first day highlight - the Monastery of San Galgano

Built in the 11th century, the Monastery of San Galgano is now a ruin.
But worth to visit it!

Blue sky above one of the countless villages in Tuscany - there are not many so beautiful and historical places in the world

Founded in 781, Abbey Sant'Antimo is still a place of silence and tranquility.

Siena main square - a great location for our dinner!

Our dinner table view...

And the view ON the table...

Have a good night!
DAY 4: Assisi to Siena
Another great day is waiting for us. The route takes us from Assisi to Siena with stops in Orvieto, Montepulciano, Pienza and ...
There are so many places of interest in southern Tuscany - we could be days on the bike and still would not have seen anything.
The gothic city of Siena is our destination for the next two days.
Tuscany at its best ...

Daily briefing! Manuel reports on the countless highlights of the day ......

At 30 degrees and roads with curves as far as the eye can see, the Ducati Multistrada is certainly the better choice than the parked Jaguar in front of the hotel.

The Cathedral of Orvieto - just impressive

A short break in the shade - at over 30 degrees in the sun

Wonderful roads - wonderful landscape - that is Tuscany

Coffee break? No it is an ice-break

One of the many villages we passed on our way from Assisi to Siena. One village is more beautiful than the other

Along the road the cypresses - it is unique

Last scenic stop of the day, Siena is already calling us...

Jim and Jane sunbathing on the bike

After a long riding day, there is nothing better than a cool Edelweiss boot beer..... Prost!

Siena - one of the most beautiful cities in Tuscany

DAY 3: Loop around Assisi and Norcia
There is nothing better that a perfect blue sky and a magnificient view from the breakfast terrace to get us in "riding mode". Late start today because the route is a bit shorter: around 190km towards Norcia - famous for truffle and wild boar salami - and then around the area of the Monti Sibillini. Some roads are still closed after the shocking earthquakes in fall 2016 and january 2017, some other roads are open and bumpy... we "carve" our way through the mountain for a day of rural scenery and green mountains.

Day 3 can start - Manuel is looking forward to a great day!

Here we go...

Elizabeth taking the passenger seat on the Multistrada... but at home in Brasil she rides as well: a Ducati Monster and a Honda dirt bike!

Jane just wants to fly ...

Parking mid town in Norcia, they are so kind here and always very happy when a traveller stop by: after the earthquake the economy of this region has many problems and now it's slowly starting to grow again.

The statue of S. Benedict, born in Norcia and also patron of Europe. He really needs to work hard to bless this region...

A selfie from our Brazilians Elizabeth and Eurico

Most of Norcia is still "off limit" due to the structural damages.

The bell tower in Norcia - improvisation is everything

Tourguide Manuel, Christoph and Mark during their visit to Norcia

Some "souvenirs" to help founding the reconstruction of the economy.... buying a salami is good karma! Well, still feeling sorry for the wild boar or the deer though...

What is Elizabeth looking for? Prosciutto or Eurico ....

Wild boar and truffle - a famous combination in Norcia!

Time for lunch

Loop nearly done, time to enjoy some fettuccine with truffle, a local speciality.

Dinner in a cosy restaurant downtown Assisi

DAY 2: Rignano - Assisi
Time to ride! A morning "warm up" lap over Passo della consuma, then a short sightseeing stop in La Verna with a sactuary dedicated to S. Francis and after a tasty lunch in "Il Grillo" we still have some time for visiting the medieval town Gubbio.

"46" Martin our Rossi fan from Canada

Ready to go! Tourguide Thomas just needs to find the gear ....

The 9 Tour participants on the Passo di Consuma

The first pass is managed by Elizabeth and Eurico ...
Do they have fun?
Yes

The restaurant Il Grillo ...
The perfect stop to have lunch

It's easy to ride around Italy: just follow the signs! LoL

We found the right way - coffee stop in Gubbio

Time for a photo stop
Palazzo dei Consoli in Gubbio

The Basilica Superiore and Basilica Inferiore are both stunning: S. Francis Cathedral is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Italy.

The streets of Assisi - pure fascination

Above the rooftops of Assisi

Ducati Scrambler and Tuscany - what a combination
DAY 1: Around Florence and Welcome Briefing
Today the sun is shining and sky is blue: a perfect warm welcome to Italy for our group of riders coming from United States, Brasil and Canada. Manuel is taking Chris and Mark for a Guided City Tour aroud the beautiful Florence, while his colleague Thomas is setting up the bikes for the welcome briefing.

A café with a grand view... away from the crowd.

The Duomo is really THE masterpiece of Renaissance. It took more than 150 years to find a solution for its roof and finally build the gigantic Cupola (dome) constructed by Brunelleschi.

Maximising space is a must when you park your scooter in Florence.

The interior decorations of the Church of Santa Croce is simply mind blowing.

Lunch time!!! Pasta with fresh pesto and pomodorini...yummy

Chris and Mark in a perfect "
avid" pose...

Last stop in front of Santa Maria Novella before going to the start hotel, just outside of Florence on the rolling hills of Chianti.

Thomas did a very good job preparing the bikes! Everything seems ready!

It's all prepared ... the tour can start....

After the welcome briefing - the dinner promises to be something special ...
