The first riding day has come!!!!
After all the informations, the food and the rain of the previous day we are ready to hit the road!
After a short brefieng, in which we obviously talked about beer =), we started our bikes!
We start getting confident with the bikes and roll on backside roads thourgh plenty of hop fields.
We finally had our coffee stop in the lovely Wolznach...yep Leroy, it is difficult to pronounce even for german speaker!
After passing many little typical german villages we finally got some more rain before reaching Eichstätt for our lunch stop!!! Really big portions, but very tasty =)
We got very lucky also in the early afternoon...the rain remaind with us for some time...
But after taking a coffee, we really needed that cause the lunch got us a bit sleepy =), we managed to see the Roman Limes in Germany which was the guarded border, with castles and walls build to prevent agression by the Germans back in the centuries...
Our riding style became a bit faster since we really didn't want to miss the nightwatch tour in the lovely city of Rothenburg!
We luckily made it on time, and after dinner we heard a lot of stories about the city from a very funny nightwatch guard!
After an exciting evening with a tour through Rothenburg we were very lucky, since it stopped raining and we had sunshine and perfect conditions in the morning to kick off.
Today we have the tour full of of Castles and monastry. we will see the Langenburg Castle, the Schoental Monastry, and in the afternoon the Hirschhorn Castle and of course the big castle in Heidelberg
Everybody is excited to take off ......and so lets go.....
Today we do leave Heidelberg in Germany, going through the northern part of the Black Forest and will arrive in Riebeauville in France. The Weather is perfect.... so lets ride the upcoming curves...
First Coffee Stop and guess what...... the famous Black Forest Cherry Cake... is a must even if it was at 10:30 am.... Mark enjoys it obvisiouly.
Homemade Cakes and Pralinees.......difficult to choose....
This summer is the "Landesgartenschau" the flower Exhibition in Bad Herrenalb and we could listen some typical German Blasmusik....
Group Picture at the Mummelsee in the Black Forest
Mummelsee Hot Spot for Bikers all over the southern Part of Germany... here with custmized Harley...
and customized Rider..
Arrived in beautiful Ribeauville.....
Riders coming back from the Restday loop.....
Picknick Time........
The day after the restday!!!
Today the route is very promising...not a long distance, around 110 miles, but a lot of nice curves and views!
We started from Ribeauville and soon we passed the river Rhine, which is also the border between France and Germany.
After some boring traffic we finally entered the southern part of the Black Forest...the curves are coming!
The road was nice and we rode smoothly til the Hexenlochmuehle (Witchholemill), a very nice place to rest and to eat some local specialities like the Black Forest cake (was it better than the previous one?) and some local ham!
On the way and at the mill we saw a lot of old picturesque tractors!
Everybody was satisfied so we mouved on towards Titisee and Schluchtsee where we had a very much needed rest! The lake was beautiful and we all felt relaxed!
We left this magnificent piece of nature and after some curves we finally passed the border with Switzerland...another country on our list!!!!
We reached the hotel pretty soon cause at night we had the unique chance to watch the fireworks over the Rhinefalls!
It has been a great day!
The last riding day has come!
In the morning everybody is excited but also sad!
We started our day in the beautiful Warth and arrived in Erding, where we started our tour a week ago!
Leaving the hotel we had our last taste of alpine curves and the morning begun really good.
We smoothly went through the magnificent Lech Valley til we reached the Plansee....gorgeous place for a coffee break!
Before lunch we reached the Linderhof Castle, a magnificent little castle build by King Ludwig the second...a mad king with a special love for the french monarchy! We all were amazed and schocked by the details!!!!
We also had lunch around the castle and after that we slowly went on towards Erding...
The german Autobahn is on our way and some of the guys had the possibility to try ther bikes out!!!!
We finally had Erding in sight when we stopped for a drink brake in Aying...the air is thin and very hot!
Our last dinner togheter has been great, we talked about our memories and everybody feels good!
A magic tour guys!!!!
See you soon,
Malcolm and Pierre
