Day 5: Bolzano - Pontresina
After crossing the Dolomites and spending a relaxing day in Bolzano and surroundings, now it's time to climb another majestic pass. Stelvio is in fact the main highlight on our route, followed by four other passes on our way to Switzerland: Passo Foscagno, Passo d'Eire, Forcola di Livigno and finally Bernina Pass.
On top of Stelvio!
Lunch at Bruno's, a special high altitude Wurst
Afternoon stop in the lively Livigno
Bernina Pass and its glacier
Today it's long market day in Pontresina, music and local delicacies along the main street
A lovely dinner at the Schweizerhof hotel in Pontresina
Day 4: Rest day Bolzano
Another gorgeous warm day in a picturesque town. There is a lot of good riding in the area but Bolzano itself offers quite a good amount of sights. Though choice, so we offer both.
Manuel will guide the city tour around his home town while Jürgen will lead a leisurely ride around the region.
We start from the heart of Bolzano.. Walther Square and the Duomo
A castel surrounded by vineyard right in the historical center? Yes...
Portici street and the market square are pretty busy in summer
So we explore the tranquility of the Franciscan monks monastery
Riding with Mark and Diego
Diego on the Top of Mendelpass (con mucho feliz)
cafe- stop at Mendelpass with Diego and Mark
mhhh! that looks tasty
Nice view from Penegalpass with Bolzano at the back
Day 3: Lienz - Bolzano
Today is one of those unforgettable days in your riding life. Starting from Lienz in Austria we enter Italy in San Candido and then we cross entirely the amazing Dolomites. These rugged mountains are part of the Alps and their peculiar white rock comes from an archaic reef, when the valleys were covered by the ocean. Simply stunning, curve after curve.
Another gorgeous blue sky
On passo Falzarego we took the cable car up to Lagazuoi, a mountain that saw a very long battle between the Austrian and Italian front during WWI
Jürgen today has prepared a tasty picnic with a fabulous view
View over Sella Group from Passo Gardena
Last stop for today.. Coffe at Fiè lake
DAY 2: Erding- Lienz
Wasserburg
Prien at the Chiemlake
nice view from the Großglockner (National Park- Hohe Tauern)
Day 1: Welcome to Munich!
In the middle of the summer, with a balmy 34°C temperature across Bavaria, we are pleased to start another big classic of Edelweiss motorcycle touring: High Alps.
Anita & Brian from Utah have booked our guided city tour, so Manuel takes them around the city for some sightseeing while Jürgen prepares the bikes for the tour.
Later on everyone (well almost everyone: Ralf is driving from Hamburg and today the Autobahn is pretty jammed) gather together for the welcome briefing.
We even have a special guesto from our headquarters: Markus (chief operation manager) came to visit us as a surprise and will join the tour for a couple of days.
This is perhaps the Edelweiss city tour that starts with... a big beer! Mid morning breakfast in perfect Bavarian tradition: Hefe Weizen and Weiss Wurst with sweet mustard....mmmh
Everyone with the nose up in the air for the 11 o'clock carillon show.
Englisher Garten, gigantic green oasis in the middle of Munich. By the way, the sign says "Forbidden to swim" but with this heat even the rigorous Germans say "who cares!"
Inside one of the most famous brewery of the world: Hofbräuhaus, the royal beer established almost 500 years ago by the Duke of Bavaria.
And then a relaxing garden dinner before getting some rest. Tomorrow it's gonna be a big day on the Grossglockner!
