Back in Seefeld! As usual, time was flying and our tour was suddenly finished. But what a final day - 6 mountain passes including the legendary Stelvio pass, a tasty picnic and once again perfect weather!
We have gathered many new impressions, had lots of wonderful meals and great wine - and made new friends: life is beautiful!
Today we started out along the west coast of lake Garda and crossed over to lake Idro through the Valvestino valley. After a coffeestop at the lakeside, we continued westwards over the Croce Domini pass road and had another tasty lunch at Edolo. Gary finally got his Spaghetti Bolognese. In the afternoon continued over the Gavia pass road, which was the most challenging road today. Everybody did a great job and we arrived in Bormio early, where some of the group decided to go strait for the SPA area and some others went up another dead end mountain road, the torri die fraele. What a nice day!
From Verona to Lake Garda is only a few kilometers - but not if you want to fit in some of the twistiest roads of the region! We added Passo Fittanze and Monte Baldo to the itinerary, plus another terrific restaurant. And all of a sudden we were on the road all day, under a brilliant blue sky and in pleasant temperatures.
Today we went over five backcountry mountain passes from Bassano del Grappa to Verona. We enjoyed small roads with little traffic and had a perfect lunch in a Michelin star restaurant. We closed the day on the terrace of an Agritourismo overlooking Verona. What a wonderful day.
Today was the day of Prosecco and Grappa - but of course we had to delay the tasting until our bikes were parked in our nice little hotel in Bassano.
Today‘s ride once again offered thousands of hairpin turns, beautiful scenery on and around the famous Monte Grappa, and excellent Italian food!
And in the evening we walked through Bassano del Grappa, where we finally had the chance to sample a few glasses of its famous drink - the Grappa.
We started under grey clouds with a few sprinkles, but even before we reached the famous Timmelsjoch pass the sun came out! We, that’s an international group from Canada and the United States on BMW‘s and a Ducati Multistrada.
The Timmelsjoch was quite busy, but as soon as we left the main roads behind us, the only traffic left were motorcycles! Not really surprising, because now we were in motorcycle heaven! No straight roads in this part of Italy- only 100s of curves and just as many apple orchards! After a final stop for cappuccinos with a magnificent view over Bolzano, we descended the Mendelpass to our hotel for tonight!
