Welcome to Patagonia - right now we are on a special tour in southern Patagonia! Some of our older customers asked a couple of months ago for a special 10-12 days tour around the southern end of the world - here we are! Yesterday we arrived by plane to Punta Arenas/Chile, today we got our beautiful brandnew BMWs and tomorrow we are out on the road to Puerto Natales - would you like to join us???
Day 1 on the road
Start the engines - let´s ride to Puerto Natales!
9.30 in the Morning - we are leaving Punta Arenas to the North with great weather, over 20 degrees and sunshine! Riding through nice landscape on good paved roads we reach after a couple of hours the charming little town of Puerto Natales.
Here some pictures:

Welcome to Puerto Natales!
Day 2: Torres del Paine National Park!
After an easy start on asfalt we entered the beautiful Torres del Paine Park, that means incredible mountains, wonderful rivers and lakes, glaciers and all this on challenging gravel roads... Check out these pictures!
That´s a lot of fun on a GS!
The weather was great, no wind, no rain and around 20 degrees Celsius, aren´t we lucky???
Look in the back, maybe you can already see them, the world famous "Torres del Paine"! Don´t worry we will get closer...
By the way there are a lot of tourists from all over the world - a lot of them are hikers and the stay at least a week...
Right in front of the most famous rock formations - Los Cuernos
And tomorrow... we are going to Argentina!!!
Day 3 Punta Arenas/Chile to Calafate/Argentina
Hi guys around the world, our third day in Patagonia and we are riding north into Argentina(around 300km).
Beautiful morning in Puerto Natales...
Let´s hit the road!
After around 30 minutes we reach the border to Argentina. The road is in excellent conditions - no problems. The border check needs around 20 minutes on each side - people are very helpful. Even the paperwork of the rental bikes are no problem too.
Welcome to Argentina
Let´s ride on gravel... Ruta 40
It is pretty important to keep the distance, if not you can´t see the big rocks and the holes... what can happen - just look at the next pictures...
Alejandro, our mechanic fixing that flat ... A rock cut the brandnew tire... if you would be alone, what would you do? We couldn´t continue with this tire, we had to change it. Even the rim doesn´t look so good any more - we had to put a tube too... that´s Patagonia!
after a short break we are back on the road to Calafate.
This little town is the spot to discover the world famous Perito Moreno Glaciar. We will see...
Some Impressions of Calafate...
Perito Moreno Glacier
and finally back to Calafate...
Day 5 Incredible Rain and a nice afternoon ride!
After a fantastic day at Perito Moreno Glacier we wanted to start early in the morning to check out the Estancia La Angostura... But it was raining all night long... So we decided to spend another day in Calafate... hanging out in the hotel in the morning...
have a look outside the window...
Real Bikers....
But around noon the sun came out and after a quick lunch we went out for a ride to the old Guesthouse of "La Leona"
Out on the bikes...
Happy People!!!
Dinner Time in Calafate - Do you want to join us???
Enjoy your meal......yam yam yam!
And after dinner - free concert with Argentinian Superstar
LEON GIECO(check it out on youtube - great guy!)
sorry - the old guys already went to bed....
Day 6 - Ride to Rio Gallegos
After a short night we start our engines for Rio Gallegos at the Atlantic coast.
Last night before we jump on the ferry to "Tierra del Fuego".
Argentina`s most famous road - RUTA 40
Day 7: Rio Gallegos - Rio Grande
Okay, to tell you the truth... Rio Gallegos is nothing special, but it is the only place to stay when you are on the way to Tierra del Fuego. This morning we left at 8.30 down South. To get to Ushuaia you have to cross the border back into Chile then take a boat across the Strait of Magellan. Then again you ride for another 2 hours(unpaved) and you cross the border back into Argentina... Lot´s of things to do.
Have a look...
Somewhere on Ruta 3, Argentina
Border Control with friendly customs
Welcome to Chile!
only 30 minutes and we are there - Tierra del Fuego Island!
Another 200 km to Rio Grande, half of it on gravel...
Another border check and we are back in Argentina
Day 8: Finally to Ushuaia!!!
Yesterday we rode the last part of the world longest road - down to Ushuaia. The main road was paved, no problems. After a nice coffee break in Tolhuin "Panaderia La Union", for sure the best bakery on Tierra del Fuego we stopped at the Passo Garibaldi. Beautiful mountains and lakes in this area. We went for a side trip on a unpaved track to the romantic Estancia Haberton. There we made a boat trip to a nearby Peguin Colony.
Sometimes it is windy in Patagonia... look at the trees!
Achim on the road...
Penguins are great!!!
Here we are - Ushuaia!!!
Day 10 + 11 Ushuaia - Cerro Sombrero - Punta Arenas
After an incredible warm rest day in Ushuaia and a short ride through the National Park of Bahia Lapataia we had a wonderful Asado at the "Estancia".
The next day we hit the road back north, again over the border back into Chile. A last night at the very little village Cerro Sombrero we started our engines for a last time. Ferry boat again across the Strait of Magellan and back to Punta Arenas!
Last moments in Ushuaia, filling up the bikes before leaving...
Last seconds in Argentina...
Maybe the old ferry?
back in Punta Arenas: Peter, Willi, Frank, Alejandro, Jochen, Jens und Achim
Some last words:
So guys, just some words about the last two weeks. Patagonia I have to say is still one of the last adventures on planet earth. I think maybe the best way to discover this beautiful area is to ride on a motorcycle. You are always out there in the nature. We were really lucky with the weather - 2 weeks, half a day of rain and nearly no wind - it is hard to believe! The people in both countries are extremely friendly and helpful. The roads offer everything: Good pavement and very tough Offroad... It depends where you want to go...
Even if you have seen only sunshine on our pictures the weather can change quickly - strong winds, rain and even snow are nothing special...
South America is great - for sure we will come back!!!
