HAT1201 Passes open or closed - that's the question

Freitag, 18. Mai 2012 | Edelweiss Bike Travel | Europa

Day 6: Warth - Erding: last day

thanx to all of you for a great tour through the High Alps!

That's us: a great group of great bikers -

Tjako, Luca, Osvaldo, Vivian, Bill, Eric, Amina, Feroz, Martina, Hans, Cristiano, Leonardo

Day 5: Pontresina - Warth

The circle is closing - we cross several borders between Italy - Switzerland - Liechtenstein - until we end up in Austria on our High Alpine Tour for our next to last night in the Jägeralpe. We don't want to realize our trip is coming to an and - tomorrow will be the last riding day passing some of King Ludwig II. dream factories...

But before that there's another Edelweiss Picnic at Sargans (at a place nobody would find except insiders and Edelweiss tour guides):

questions regarding the Linzer Torte our tour guide just laconically answers with: "don't ask, just eat it." - that's just the way it is...

four gents having a good time at the end of a good ride in the High Alps:

some romantic flowers on the way...

and finally a great getting together at Jägeralpe:

Day 4: Bolzano - Pontresina

picnic in Glurns the smallest Italian town:

detail in Glurns:

and there's some kind of Mafia even in Glurns:

after the picnic we're ready for the Ofenpass ...:

where we have an encounter of a very special kind:

fantastic panoramas like this one - we don't want ot realize we're starting to close the circle already....

on Bernina SNOW: So Nice Outstanding Women...

and great men accompanying us:

Day 3: "Restday" in Bolzano

We'll start out late today, guess why:

BUT: WE'LL START and HAVE our restdays ride!

And here are the pictures from Penserjoch, Sterzing, and the rest of a beautiful day when WE were the brightest color spots whereever Hans would lead us:

and even churchtowers change their upright position to catch a glimpse of us:

and when we change our position, the tower looks almost right:

Day 2: Lienz - Bolzano

The sun is out and busy accompanying our start for the third day - heading for the Dolomites. This is our Tour Guide Hans' playground and so he knows all the marvellous spots and insider places that are on the route for today.

Today's highlights:

Tre Cime di Lavaredo: They are probably one of the best-known mountain groups in the Alps.

Near to Auronzo di Cadore, Misurina is a small enchanting village a short distance from the feet of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo:

two friends:

Paso di Falsarego:

...not to forget the pioneer of commercial mountain hiking: Luis Trenker (listen to him talking about his Dolomites):

and finally, we reach Bolzano, a beautiful town even when it's raining because we'll spent 2 nights here in the Luna Mondschein.

Day 1: Erding - Lienz

After being introduced to THE VAN:

... our first briefing:

Henry's already a sunny spot in Bavaria when we leave Erding this morning:

AND WE ARE LUCKY!!! The first real summers day in the Alps this May was today - after having a cup of coffee at Prien/Chiemsee we head for our lunch place at Pillersee:

and then we made the Grossglocker:

and the Brazilian twins and their Pa enjoy the marvellous view:

this helmet colour is just unbelievable:

and Amina and Feroz make a happy couple on top:

We finally arrive at our hotel in the picturesque town of Lienz - tired and happy.

Arrival Day: at Henry's in Erding

Tomorrow morning we'll know! The weather forecast is fine for the weekend and we are looking forward to our high Alpine adventure - and our highlight for tomorrow is the Grossglockner  High Alpine Road! So we're preparing for this first HAT day getting together at Henry's and making friends with the other tour members:

Hans having a chat with Bill and Leonardo talking about - what? - bikes, travels and - women, of course

a little bit of jetlag mixed with curiosity and eagerness to start the trip through 5 countries in 6 days:

Since we are lucky, you'll find some pictures made of the Grossglockner area here tomorrow...
