A short flight brought us to Lalibela in the north of Ethiopia. By bike it would have taken at least two days to get there, by plane it was only two hours. We were somehow shocked how "basic" everything here was - especially the houses of the locals.
The full day in Lalibela was reserved for seeing King Lalibela's eleven (!) churches. They were all built as rock hewn churches and worth to be seen.
After visiting the churches we were invited by our guide to his families house for coffee. It was not just a tourist thing, we really became to see their house and how they live and how different this is from our way of life.
That's it for now. The next report comes soon...
