“Sicily to Rome” 2011 (RTS1102) – DAY7

Thursday, May 19, 2011 | Manuel Marabese | Europe

Today every rider (and passenger) is facing a hard decision: rest day enjoying the breathtaking view from our Villa in liberty style and maybe take a walk around the old historical centre of Maratea and its Marina at the feet of the cliff... or join us for a rollercoaster ride of 175km and 3459 curves. Guess what the majority choose? Yes, the ride!

We first start with a nice ascend on the suspended road to the statue "Cristo il Redentore" (Christ the Redeemer), followed by a "city sightseeing" riding through the historical centre of Maratea and later along the tyrrhenian bendy coast... Not many stops today, just a quick espresso and then a challenging technical ride in order to arrive at the beach picnic on time and - most important - dry. Today the sky is a bit cloudy but our luck keeps us away from the rain! (ok ok... it rained a bit... but very little, just few drops before the picnic...)
