Adventure Big Five ABF1402

Wednesday, September 10, 2014 | Andreas Fetzer | Africa

What a pity - it´s already over......

See U on your next Edelsweiss-Tour somewhere on this globe

Day 15: Citrusdal to Capetown

Wunderful last Riding Day: Finally Mountain roads and curves!!

"Welfare-Briefing"

Day 14: Springbok to Citrusdal

Fotostop in front of the church in Kamieskroon - unfortunately the cafe was closed....

Day 13: Fish River Canyon to Springbok

Ai Ais Hot springs - very nice swimming break in the morning

Gravel riding in Namibia - stunning landscape all around - feels almost like riding on the Mars.....

Day 12: Ketmannshoop - Fish River Canyon

Ed - as Bird-Whisperer

Fish River Canyon - second largest Canyon of the world - 550m deep!

Dusty ride!!   Our Vandriver Skumbi with selfmade "Dust-Filter" (Toilet paper does a perfect job!)

Day 11: Mariental to Ketmannshoop

Sepp in the Giant´s Playground

Day 10: Namib Naukluft to Mariental

beautiful wide landscape in Namibia!

Ignition problems in the middle of nowhere - and ther is no BMW Service-Center with a Diagnose-Computer around! So just the Tourguide´s brain combined with a screwdriver has to be sufficiant to solve the problem

Feedinf

Feeding of the hungry "Kittycats" in the Quivertree Forest Camp!

The famous Quivertrees in the sunset

Oh yes - The bikes (and the tourguides) have a hard life in Africa .....

Day 9:  "Restday" Namib Naukluft Park

("Restday" is a bit misleading for today.... ):

wakeup-call 5:00 am!! for a desert safari to the Sossusvlei Sanddunes and the Sesriem Canyon - but it´s worth to get up so early!)

-

Rita climbing up "Dune 45"!

And Klaus on his way down

cute little vlsitor during our lunch-picnic: a Chakal!! Fearless or just very hungry? Beautiful surprise for us anyway!

famous  Deadvlei - "Death Valley" - Denise hanging (very alive) on a tree that died ca 600  years ago - amazing!

Though not petrified, the wood does not decompose because the area is so dry!

is this a Talban disguised as a namibian bankrobber hiding in the Sesriem Canyon??

Day 8: Swakopmund - Namib Naukluft

Now the Asphalt stops and the "adventure" begins! (Sepp on the desert road)

No - that is not on the Mars!!

Vogelfeder- Berg - nice shape!

View to the north from above

Sepp and "His" Desert

The Tourguides are taking care of everyone during the tour!!

Very good:  Dinner cooked on the fireplace - tradional way!

Day 7: Windhoek to Swakopmund

our "Drinkers"-table during lunch stop Kids stay kids.....

Szuszanna happy (as it is her birthday!)

Day 6: Ghamzi to Windhoek

"someone" from besinde the gravel road looking at us as we leave the lodge!!

Herero-Women - nice colourful dresses and hats!

Day 5: Scenic Flight over the Okovango Delta

- there are all the Elefants hiding!! We can understand them - better take a dip in the River to escape the heat (37 degrees C)  than being watched by the Safari Tourists in the dusty bushlands.....

.

beautiful!

While most of us enjoy the flight 4 people are "trying" to repair Urlich`s Flat....      Yes - this is Africa: efficiency can still be improved a lot all over!

Andres at the lake Ngami Picturestop

incredible - these guys know how to fish! Every 15 seconds anither one!!

Wedding pictures on the Edelweiss-Bike - all the relatives seem to be jealous

Sepp and Karl having fun with the kids along the road in Kuke

Day 4:   Landrover-Safari into the Moremi Game Reserve

.

Ed probably happy to ba able to stretch his legs a bit after a long drive to the "Black Pool"

a A Giraffe acting as Tourguide for the Zebras  (has a longer neck and so it can see deeper into distance!)

Rolf  "Shooting" on Zebras

we woke up the Hippos - they did not look very excited about it....

Picnic Lunch - surprisingly the baboons did not come to steel it!

very rare:  a leopard walking lazily around - not very impressed by us! (probably good so!)

Julie´s Birthday - with cake,  Life-Song and Amarula

Day 3 between Nata and Maun (Botswana)

: Road along the Kalahari: 600 years old Baobab trees

Day2:

"Unusual" animals beside the road -  nice picture stop

Getting in contact with the locals: Candies are always welcome

getting early up tn the morning: 6:00 the boat is leaving for the "River Safari" - cool to see the wild animlals!

Day 1: absolutely impressive: Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe

Denise approaching Sambia illegally
