Our Edelweiss Ultimate Alps Tour has already been running for a couple of days and we are currently enjoying our rest days in South Tyrolia.
However, we are far from resting!! All our riders show a lot of stamina! Wait!! I should better say they show a great passion for riding a motorcycle through the Alps of Switzerland and Italy!
Already on day 1 we figured out immediately that it doesn't make sense to count curves - because there are simply too many of them
So we hopped on our bikes again and enjoyed the pure pleasure of the rides through magnificent scenery and continuously changing altitude - luckily accompanied by perfect sunshine all the time
Have a look at our selection of pictures...
Here on top of Bernina Pass before Pontresina.
Up and down the "curly" roads of the Simplon Pass ...
and the St. Bernardino Pass - great riding fun in Switzerland between St. Moritz and Brunnen!!!
Brian - secretly taking the best shots
Christine and Jo from Utah are amazed by the scenery on the Swiss Grimsel pass!
The Swiss people are famous for making use of the water running down the mountains to produce current! Here at the water reservoir at the Grimsel Traveller Hospice.
But the other thing for which the Swiss are famous for is their numerous mountain passes and the fantastic roads that seem just to be made to sweep up and down with your motorcycle! Yeeeehaaa!!!
A stop between Grimsel and Furka to visit the Rhone glacier! Walking down the narrow path and virtually into the glacier's mouth was pretty exciting!
Same as everybody else, Jo thought this was an incredible view!
Inside the glacier it feels like you're in a crystal castle!
Look! We even found sleeping beauty inside the glacier!! Luckily the right prince came along with us
And here are Tom and Scott (USA),
Brian (USA), Terri and Carlos (Venezuela) along with tour guide David,
Stan and Austin (USA)
Jo and Christine, Michael and Karen (USA) and...
... last but not least Anne and Ian and Tom (USA) ...
... all of them eating their delicious lunch with relish (in this case Gnocchi with Gorgonzola)
Towards the end of our third riding day in Switzerland we rolled into Zermatt - or better say into Täsch, the village before. Since Zermatt is a car-free zone you are not allowed to bring any vehicle into the place other than electric ones! A mind-blowing view of the famous Matterhorn was awaiting us!!
The most enthusiastic motorcyclists in our group took the challenge through the Italian backcountry roads between Lake Como and Bozen! What a great day!!! Nothing but riding on deserted roads that wind up and down those almost forgotten pass roads! A riding feast for the most passionate bikers!
On top of the breathtaking Passo Vivione... Could you find more narrow roads than this? Brian enthusiastically declared this not to be a road but a goat trail
Terry from Venezuela was amazed by the stunning mountains which seem to be wrapped around you standing up here!
At the end of a long, most exciting riding day we were welcomed by the wonderful hotel in Klobenstein - I don't know any better place to relax and enjoy the view of the Dolomite mountains!!!
Any more dreams waking up with a view like this??
Take care! You might think you're still dreaming
On our second rest day here in Klobenstein we will discover the roads around the main mountain range of the Dolomites - a true motorcyclist's paradise!!
Tour guides "hanging out" for lunch...
It is already our last riding day! But wait... This wouldn't be a true Ultimate Alps Tour if Edelweiss didn't find you some breathtaking rides right until the end of this Tour!
Talking motorcycles at the Kühtai mountains...
...next to one of the water reservoirs of the area's pumped storage hydro power station.
Thanks guys for a great riding time!
