Day 6, Bozen - Kals
Today we could finally ride into the Dolomites! We tried to stay away from the tourist busses as much as possible, using smaller roads and passes like the sectacular "Passo Valles" and "Passo di Giau", before having lunch at the Falzarego Pass. Then we finally entered Austria from the Staller Saddle, a very narrow pass that is open just one way at a time! A quite heavy rain was waiting for us just after we crossed the border, but we managed to reach the beautiful hotel in Kals before the clouds covered all the valley!
Day 4, Livigno rest day
Today two different routes! One group went to the beautifil Como Lake in Italy and another decided to do a smaller loop on the mountains around Livigno and St. Moritz.
Como Lake is very famous for its beauty but not everybody knows it is also the birthplace of Moto Guzzi, the oldest European manufacturer in continuous motorcycle production as well as one of the most important brands in motorcycle history. So of course we took the chance to visit the very interesting Moto Guzzi museum in Mandello!
Day 3, Andermatt - Livigno
After two days of practice, we are now ready for six high mountain passes in one day! Here is the list!
St. Gotthardpass: 2108 m / 6916 ft.
Passo del San Bernadino: 2065 m / 6775 ft.
Splügenpass: 2113 m / 6932 ft.
Passo del Maloja: 1815 m / 5955 ft.
Passo del Bernina: 2330 m / 7644 ft.
Forcola di Livigno: 2315 m / 7595 ft.
What else to say? What a day!!!
Day 2, Warth - Andermatt
On our second riding day, we had sunshine and blue sky to start our ride in Warth and when we reached the Furkajoch the view was just amazing, we could see even the Rhine valley and Switzerland on the opposite side of the valley! We passed then through Liechtenstein and had lunch at beautiful Walensee. After that, some threatening clouds suggested us to wear our rain gear before approaching the Klausenpass, and it was a very wise decision! In Altdorf we could see the monument dedicated to William Tell, the Swiss national hero, before finally getting to Andermatt.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is good, let's keep fingers crossed because six mountain passes are awaiting us!
Day 1, Seefeld - Warth
Welcome to Tirol, Austria, where another great Edelweiss tour is about to begin! A very international group with riders from Australia, Canada, South Africa and USA (and two Tour Guides from Austria and Italy) are eager to ride their brand new Ducatis on the Alps, the Paradise of Motorcyclists!
