Riding day 5, Volterra

Last riding day of this beautiful Tuscany by Scooter tour, today we customized a bit the itinerary because Marcela and Donald are already going to Siena for three days after the tour, so their wish was to see something else. So Volterra was the best option for today, perfect riding weather and nice twisty roads to reach this beautiful old town... and of course to come back!

Riding day 4, Vinci

Weather forecast for today? Bad all over Tuscany, so we decided not to go too far from Florence, in case a thunderstorm came! Very close to our hotel there is Motorama, a big motorcycle clothing store, so why not go for a visit? Then we headed to Vinci, hometown of one of the most important genius of all times, Leonardo da Vinci, where we could have lunch and then visit the museum dedicated to him and to the incredible machines he designed. Time had come to ride back to Florence, and to challenge some quite heavy traffic before reaching the hotel... and before rain came! The weather forecast for tomorrow is much better, so let's keep fingers crossed!

Riding day 3, Arezzo

Being the weather a little bit crazy in these days, we decided to "swap" the rides and today we went to Arezzo, one of the wealthiest cities in Tuscany, due to its tradition in gold-smithery. This town became very popular in the last years also because of the oscar-winning movie "La Vita è Bella" by Roberto Benigni, that was filmed here. On the way to Arezzo, we rode the beautiful "Passo della Consuma" and could enjoy a good coffee in the little medieval village of Poppi, while on the way back, trying to beat the rain, we could enjoy a lot of twisties between olives and vines. But, well, in the end the rain has beaten us!

Riding day 2, Mugello area and Muraglione pass

Today we rode in the area nort-east of Florence, famous especially for the Mugello racetrack! We first reached Scarperia for our morning coffee break and then, after a picture at the entrance of the Mugello circuit, we headed to Marradi and San Benedetto in Alpe where we had lunch with home-made pasta! After that, the beautiful "Muraglione" pass was waiting for us to take us back to Florence!

Riding Day 1, San Gimignano

Today we went to visit the "Manhattan of the Middle Ages". San Gimignano, situated on a hill and surrounded by the lovely Tuscan countryside, became famous mainly through its exceptional medieval architecture, in particular its numerous medieval towers (12th – 14th century) which have survived. The walled city can only be accessed by the medieval city gates, from where you can really go back in time! Since 1990 the historic centre has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
