last picture before hoping on the bus to Zurich Airport
our CEO Rainer Buck came from Mieming Headquarter to visit the group from Thailand.
At the very right - Peera TT Thailand and Rainer Buck
Today nobody wanted to ride, all were very exited about the Travel Event. We had a guided tour in the morning through the production hall and the brand new shop, had some lunch at the main place and Touratech Thailand has an introduction on the stage in the afternoon.
a very interesting guided tour through the company`s production hall, logistic center and through the brand new shop
10 years ago they produces 40 pannier a day - today 350 - 400/day. It was not allowed to take any pictures in the production hall
the new logistic center
and after the factory tour most of the Thai guests stayed - it was a long evening
Finally we have made our way to Königsfeld im Schwarzwald, from where we will start to visit the Touratech Travel Event and BMW Motorrad GS Trophy Qualifier Germany 2017.
Visit the Touratech Travel Event after your return from the trophy ride and look at the workshops, watch the travel reports, go shopping or meet other motorcyclists and have a chat - almost everybody will speak English! And of course there are many places where you can try the local food, places where you can find accessories for you bike, clothing and much more.
we are going to the start of the GS Trophy
you can feel the tension
and visited some stations
it is to easy for Peera
After six long riding days we can finally relax and take it a bit easier today - the route is "only" 260km long. But as we explore the Vosges mountains and the Black Forest in Germany, we also have hundreds of curves to navigate through. In these regions, every road is a good road, so it is easy to add a few kilometers if you feel like it. On the main route, you will see beautiful and empty Vosges mountain roads, criss-crossing up and down the hills. Then we will cross the French-German border, which is created by the river Rhein. And as soon as we have entered Germany, the mountains are rising again. We have reached the famous Black Forest, one of Germany's premier motorcycle regions!
the warriors are ready to start
Peera is amazed that Edelweiss has even a brewery
the House of the 1000 coockoo clocks
Today we will see a completely different area of Switzerland, the Jura region. This landscape on the French border is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts: not as busy as other regions, beautiful hills and rivers, scenic little villages - and some great motorcycle roads. Later we will cross the French border once again. And then the fun starts: the roads through the Vosges mountains were made with motorcyclists in mind! And Ribeauvillé, our destination today, is one of the most picturesque towns of the whole Alsace!
great view to the Swiss lakes - but cold!!
Coffee stop - or facebook stop at Mont Crossin
it is hard for our Thai girls to get adjusted to our temperatures
hi little family
great 360 degree view from the Grand Ballon
Ribeauville and its timbered houses are very special.
Today would have been the day for the Mont Blanc - Aiguille du Midi, but.... After a Thai lunch in Chamonix we put again our rain gear on and returned to Switzerland and head north, past Lake Geneva to Gruyeres, one of Switzerlands famous cheese regions. Our destination today is Fribourg, a beautiful medieval town.
the Mont Blanc in the early morning. We all were positive, but the weather can change quickly in the high alpine regions.
we were the first on the gondola
this is our cable car flying in
everybody was exited, but than they postponed it to 9.00 a.m. becaus of heavy winds and than to 10 p.m. - and that was it. The Thai family has to come back.
After a rainy day we enjoyed the walk through Friborg for dinner
Right after leaving Andermatt we have our first highlight of the day: the beautiful Furkapass and the amazing Rhone glacier. It was raining and had 4 C on top. But what can kill the mood of a group like this. Snowball fight time!!!
Snow is really fascinating for our friends from Thailand.
Why taking the steps?
Muuhhh
Edelweiss invasion
Then we followed the Rhone river all the way into the French-speaking part of Switzerland. We flew up the Forclaz hoping there will be no Swiss police. To reach Chamonix we have to cross the French border - country number four on this tour!
last stop at the Froclaz just before Chamonix
Keep your fingers crossed - we need a blue sky for the Aiguille du Midi tomorrow morning.
After the challenging Stelvio Pass yesterday - six mountain passes are waiting for us today. We cross the border between Switzerland and Italy a few times today - so you can decide if you prefer your coffee and lunch stops Italian or Swiss style. We pass St. Moritz, the famous ski resort that attracts VIPs from all over the world.
Splügen Pass and San Bernardino Pass offer some amazing views and the old cobblestone road across Gotthard Pass just before arriving in Andermatt will delight you with some challenge.
we started with rain in the morning - but what can kill the good mood of this group??? Nothing!!
Silvaplana Lakes at St. Moritz
we had a coffe at the most charming lady in the whole Bergell Valley.
on top of San Bernhardino I saw at a sudden an Edelweiß T-Shirt. The big Bruce from Australia says hello to Angela and Claudia.
the boy haven`t seen snow before in their life. So every picture stop lasted a bit longer - they had to do a snowball fight.
Man and than on top of Gotthard Pass a real snow wall!!
We are at the Crown Hotel in Andermatt. What a lovely place. Dinner in the Toutoune restaurant was delicious.
so how it looks like when we try to get ready
Upps - what is the Juve fan doing on our table?? Ohh - today is Champions League final and most of our Thai guest are also Juve fans. So we watched together. No further comment
After the long flight and the briefings, it is finally time to ride. We will leave busy Zürich behind us and follow smaller roads to Lake Zürich. Now we start to climb up into the mountains. Before we cross the border into Austria, we will explore the Appenzell region, famous for typical Swiss villages, the Säntis mountain and of course the cheese! In Austria the roads will get even narrower and the mountains even higher! We will ride through famous ski resorts before we finally descend to our destination today, Zams.
perfekt wether, perfect day
first picture stop at Lake Zürich
the group arriving at Schwägalp
the bikes parking in front a great scenery - the Säntis
in the Appenzell cheese factory
it is not a coffes stop, it is a facebook stop
36 participants, 29 bikes of all brands and categories, start and finishing in different countries - it is quite a logistical challenge. But: office team - thanks to Karin - garage - thanks to Markus, Jens, Tom, Izi, Luci, the guys who did the transport and last not least the tourguides, worked together smoothly.... as always
Everybody listens to the briefing
Radab, our new collegue
our menue in our lovely hotel high above the Lake Zürich
Lake Zürich
the bikes are nearly loades at headquarter Mieming
uups - the garage is nearly empty
.... and here is the result. All bikes are in the indoor garage in Zürich, all sorted, with name tags, Edelweiss and Touratech branding, all waivers prepared, all keys and papers complete.... but where is the van driver??? Oh my god - the German customs and the Swiss customs are a pain.
we are waiting for our guests from Thailand
