The last day has sadly arrived! The entire group is tired but really happy.
After a great breakfast in the Duke of Marlborough we rode the Old Russel Road (yes, again cause it is really impressive).
After an ice cream stop along the beach and a really tasty lunch at the Rusty Pelican in Matakana we got lucky with the weather..once again! It rained while we were eating and so we decided to ridestraight to Auckland and spend some time in the city.
How to pack 2 days in 1!
Yesterday we had such a bad weather that we didn't even tried to mouve our bikes. So today we decided to ride to Cape Reinga, the most northern point in our tour, and than to go to Russell.
The weather was fantastic, an incredible warm sun and a very light air. After the magic Cape Reinga we took the highway 10 towards Paihia and here part of the group took the ferry directly to Russell while some others like Jòrg, Laszlo, Regina, Ferenc, Irma and Malcolm decided to ride the magic Old Russell Road. 70Km of curves and no traffic, more than a dream!
An absulutely spactacular ride: the Kauri Highway is THE highlight in Northland, simply stunning. Then the picnic and the ferry ride to top it all off, not to mention the awesome road through Mangamuka Gorge. Sorry we couldn't take any pics. Too busy throwing the bike around...
The north extension section has begun!
Today we went from the beautiful and huge Auckland to the small city of Tairua through the Coromandel peninsula.
After some traffic we finally hit the Kawakawa Bay road and the curves begin!
The local traffic didn't ruin our morning too much and after a really curvy coast road we finally arrived at the Mussel Kitchen Restaurant...no place is better than that for a break!
In the afternoon we hit the road again and had fun cruising around and taking some looks to the beautiful beaches.
WHAT A START!
