Season Opener: Morocco Tour 2018

Monday, March 19, 2018 | Mirko Heilhecker / Lukas Schiebe | Africa / Europe

Day1: Malaga - Ceuta

The last instructions at the morning briefing bevor we start our tour to Morocco
Outside the Costa del Sol shows us the the name is not always the program but our bikes are already save on the boat and we are looking forward to get to the other side of the Mediterranean see
The walls of Ceuta on the way to our Hotel, that´s back wall is a part of the fortress

Day2: Ceuta (Spanish enclave in Africa) - Chefchaouèn Marocco

Once more we cross the old center of Ceuta on our way to the border just behind the city wall
5km later we have our first coffe in Marocco and its obvious that we are not in Spain anymore
Who thinks Africa is the continent of eternal sunshine is defenetly wrong these days but...
... we are lucky and the rain stops for our lunch break and a small tour through Tetouan
We are leaving the costal area and enter the rif mountains on our way to Chefchauen
The famous blue city
Some impressions of our Hotel just to make everyone jealous who reads that blog and hasn´t been with us:P

DAY 3: Back to the coast, this time the atlantic

Leaving Chefchaouen towards Rabat the capital of Morocco
The butcher, our new friend after we ordered the 3 kilo of meat
In Rabat
The view from the hotel to the Medina and the river
Because we weren't that lucky in the daytime with the weather we made a little city tour at night

Day 4: From Rabat to Marrakech

Driving towards the Atlas and the beautiful city of Marrakech. To make some kilometers and to get south to places where the sun is shining we use the Moroccan highway that leads us first through endless fields and then through small hills with beautiful purple flowers all over
The city is very clean and perfect with its very own architecture and all the gardens and lights and so is our hotel too
Here you'll find everything no matter we are in Morocco

Day 5: "rest day in Marrakech"

The motto of the day is you can rest when you are dead. That's why we use our time to drive a small loop into the Atlas mountains, up to 2600 meters. Who thinks about skiing when you think about Africa?
This guys up there now magic. Even with this simple facilities they make us an incredible lunch with an amazing view
So good that our vegetarian can't resist

Day 6: Over the Atlas mountains

A whole day of curves over the Tizin Tichka pass
Our hotel reminds of the tales from one thousand and one night

Day 7: To Gorges du Dades

In the morning we visit the old town of Ait Ben Haddou. By it's time a big city with around 1000 inhabitants. Now protected under UNESCO world heritage
Our second stop is in the film studios of Marokko. Many famous movies were filmed here such as Ben Hur or James Bond. Also the French comedy Asterix and Obelix
The famous road in the beautiful Dades valley

Morocco is full of surprises. It made our day very interesting. Because of the rain the rivers were full of water and there was no chance to cross to our hotel so that we had to take a pist to get there what everyone managed fabulous

Day 8 and 9: To Merzouga and into the desert

On the way to Merzouga. A beautiful landscape with a lot of nothing
Who's that?
Safety first doesn't matter what you ride
Beautiful sunrise after a night in our desert camp

Day 10: Back to the north and again over the Atlas mountains

Day 11: Restday or more the day of shopping in Fes

The view from our Hotel over the Medina of Fes
Shopping in the Medina. Some of us had to return to the Hotel to drop some things they bought because it was difficult to carry all

Day 12: Fes to Chefchaouen

The day of the famous Edelweiss picnic
In the afternoon we are on a amazing mountain road though the rif. The scenery is breathtaking with the dark clouds but luckily no rain

Day 13: last day of the tour back to Malaga

Boarders are not the best place for a good shot. So here just one of the best pictures to remember the nice time in Morocco.
