Time has been flying, as usual! The tour is over, we had a great final riding day through the Nebrodie mountains. After a beautiful ride along Sicily‘s northern shore we turned inland towards Mt. Etna. Twisty roads, a wonderful Italian lunch and a final visit to the well-stocked Harley dealer were the perfect ending for a great tour with lots of new friends!
Bye-bye Sicily, thanks for the wonderful time!
Rest day - that means it’s time for another great ride! We rode straight up into the Madonie mountains, one curve followed the next one.
Not surprisingly, it took us three hours to cover 120 km! But of course we took some time to visit the Targa Florio museum, as we were riding on the former race track!
And there is always time for the mandatory stop in one of the Italian coffee shops, where great Espressos, Cappuccinos and Canoli waited for us!
In the afternoon we still had enough time to explore the streets of Cefalù, this beautiful city on Sicily‘s northern shore!
Another morning that greeted us with beautiful sunshine and perfect blue skies. What else could we ask for? We left the southern coast of Sicily and traversed the Island. We rode through beautiful vallies on curvy roads. Climing up and down the mountains of this island paradise. We traveled through tthoug the towns of Prrizzi and Corleone too. We did not see any mafia on this day. We did however, enjoy a nice gilatto under the beautiful castle in Caccomo though before we arrived on the north shore town of Cefalu. It was a fantastic day.
Today we were greeted with bright beautiful sunshine, and it stayed with us the entire day.... we rode out of Argento along the coast. The sea was majestic today, beatiful torquose blue. The sun warm and actually hot at times, spring is definetely in full swing on this beautiful Isalnd. We went to Sciacca and then headed up into the hills for more of the thousnads of twisted and turns, we enjoyed every one of them. The views from the mountains and cliffs here are unbelievable. Tonight, we will be out on the town to enjoy some fin Sicilian cusine.....
April - there is no better time to explore Sicily! The temperatures are pleasant, the smell of Oranges is everywhere, most tourists haven’t arrived yet - and we have most roads to ourselves!
We started our Harley-Davidson tour with a twisty ride up to Europe‘s most active volcano, the Etna.
After our first (and definitely not last) stop for Italian coffee, we continued to the ancient Roman villa „Villa Romana del Casale“. Here we got finally caught by hopefully the only rain on this tour.
We had a great lunch before we started to explore the thousands of square meters of mosaics.
The afternoon ride through the gorgeous Sicilian countryside was made even more interesting by a little mudslide, caused by the previous thunderstorm - but of course that doesn’t stop any serious Harley rider from New York...
After a bit if cleaning, we happily continued to Agrigento, our destination for two nights.
