First Norway Touring Center 2018 (NTC1801)

Monday, July 16, 2018 | Manuel Marabese / Pierre Baumgärtner | Europe

Day 6: Trollstigen, gran finale!

Dulcis in fundo, we have left the Trollstigen pass for our last day. In the morning on our way to Åndalsnes the weather has been quite grey and a bit wet on the way up the 11 hairpins. We have not been so lucky to have the view over the switchbacks but right after the passes.... The sky opened magically! Blue sky and warm sun in the strawberry valley called Valldal! Just fantastic, perfect timing for our last afternoon coffee stop, this time accompanied by a very yummy strawberry cake!

Thank you everyone for being so kind on this tour, working for you has been truly a pleasure and a honor for us.

Yours,

Manuel and Pierre.

Such a sweet moment, enjoying our cake in the garden...
Don and his son Rob, great riding buddies!
The famous Valldal strawberries
Well, this is how the view was supposed to be
THE cake
Cheers!!!! Great tour with all of you!
A lovely dinner to say goodbye - or see you soon - to each other.

Day 5: The Atlantic road

Another couple of highlights on our route today: we start along the coast towards Vestnes and then after a ferry ride we reach Molde, known as the town of roses and the jazz festival. Later on we visit Fort Ergan in Bud, one of the many nazi bunker built during WWII.

Before (and also after) lunch we cross the bridges of the famous Atlantic Road, enjoying then a wonderful meal with fish soup and bacalao at a Biartmans Favorit, a local restaurant. This year they even won the trophy for the best bacalao of the region!

Quite a view at the nazi bunker in Bud
Crossing the famous curvy bridge

Day 4: The Fjords

First time that the sun was not really coming through and the day started a bit foggy, however later the day it got a bit better and today we turned around various fjords incl the Westkapp.. what an experience.

One group went for the long ride.. Over 400km and three ferries! We reached Vestkapp but the weather wasn't really top...
The road to get there was fascinating though
Red carpet entrance for hungry motorcyclists.. Pity that the only choice there was either triangular fish&chips and cheese burger..
Along Austerfjorden, not a famous one but definitely a scenic and curvy ride
The boat festival has just started!

Day 3: Geiranger Fjord

The day looks sunny and warm, no big cruise traffic in the fjord... So we are heading to Geriganger today, the King of the fjords!

Gorgeous weather for this group photo! Manuel is not in it, as someone had to take the photo... Geiranger viewpoints are never busy when you need it!
Oh, here he is! Photo bombing selfie!
We managed to get some space on the ferry cruise along the fjord...
Very quiet day for Geiranger since it's one of those magical day in the summer where no cruise ships are docking here. We even got fjord-facing tables for a terrace lunch!
On top of Dalsnibba, the highest paved road of Norway.

Nice Bike might be an idea to include into the Edelweiss fleet....

Day 2: Runde, the bird island

We often start this tour with an easy yet scenic route. After a short ferry rde we leave behind the "urban" area around the pretty Ålesund and we cruise among idyllic little fishing villages with well kept gardens.

Highlight of the day is the boat tour to the bird colony on the boat of captain Bjorn. He tells us many interesting aspects of the local history, among thousands of birds and some deep blue water.

Estela and Luis

Day 1: Welcome to Ålesund

What an exciting atmosphere in town! The sun is just about to shine and Pierre and Manuel are getting the bikes ready for this touring center based in Ålesund! Let's have a look...

The group of riders is pretty mxed, coming from South Afirca, Canada, United States, Germany, Sweden and even Santo Domingo!
