- Thank you all for the lovley time! Hope to see all of you again at some point.

The way up to the Timmelsjoch.

Christine wants to ride her selfe now.

Day 7: Rest day in Bolzano

A rest day is not the same as a no-ride day, so about half the group set out to discover the amazing roads of the Dolomites.

The Rosengarten, partly covered by clouds. They looked threatening but we stayed dry all day.
Andrew, Johannes and Jerry at Lake Carezza with the Latemar-Group as a backdrop.
Jerry and the massive rock formation known as Sella.

Day 6: Val di Sole to Bozen

On our way to Bozen we pass the Lago di Molveno, the Santuario di San Romedio and the last highlight of the day the Mendelpass.

Lago di Molveno and the Dolomites everybody is enjoying this spectacular view
Next stop: The Santuario di San Romedio
Mag, Jim, Terry, Tammy, Jerry and Andrew after a nice ride up to the Mendelpass.
Christine, Mark, Terry, Tammy and Jerry halfway across lake Como.

Day 5: Lugano to Val di Sole

Lago di Como is one of several beautiful lakes in northern Italy. Many celebrities have holiday mansions here. We crossed it by ferry, then followed the shore and headed towards the the next Italian province: Trentino. Since our hotel tonight has an impressive spa area we decided to go there right away...

The ferry took us from Menaggio...
... to Varenna
Ducatis feel right at home here

Day 4: Zermatt to Lugano

After an early start and a trip to the Gornergrad, with the fist Train, we are leaving the impressive Swiss Alpes behind us. After a short trip through Italy we are back on swiss soil in Lugano at the beatiful "LuganoLake"

The world-famous Matterhorn!
Getting cozy on the train ride up to the Gornergrad.
The early risers at the "Gornergrad" with the "Matterhorn" in the Background - What a view!!

Day 3: Brunnen to Zermatt

Our small group from the US and Canada
The ferry ride across Vierwaldstättersee is part of...
... the Grand Tour of Switzerland
Terry loves to pose...
Amazing view from the top of Grimselpass
Ain't no better place anywhere for a genuine Edelweiss picnic!
Sooo gooood!!!!
Tammy in front of the Rhone Glacer. Or what's left of it...
Margret, can you see the white cloth that covers the ice? It's not another art project by Christo, just a desperate attempt to protect the ice from the hot August sun.
This is what the glacier looked like only 11 years ago!
And that's what's left of it in 2018...
Still, the ice cave is spectacular
And it's so nice and cool inside...
A "glacier pothole"
Andrew, taking a picture of Furka road
From Zermatt village we could see the Matterhorn, Switzerland's landmark mountain.
Terry and Tammy loved the sight
In case you're unsure: we're in Switzerland!

Day 2: Pontresina to Brunnen

To day we are tacking on the Albulapass and the Oberalppass. With some very senic roads in-between.
Early first stop: Lake St. Moritz
From left to right: Jerry, Terry, Andrew, Tammy, Mag and Jim on the Oberalppass
Great view from the 'Sheer View' lookout

Day 1: Mieming to Pontresina

On the Ultimate Alps Tour we dive right in: Stelvio, the Queen of Alpine Roads and its 87 tight switchbacks are like a warm-up lap for what's to come.

Lunch break on top of Stelvio Pass. Bruno, Master of Sausages, is about to prepare some of his world-famous vernison burgers.
Vegetarians please look the other way!
Piz Bernina and the ramains of the once mighty glacier.
