Georgia Moto Travel from Thailand on their way to BMW Motorrad days 2023 in Berlin
The group from Thailand arrived in Munich today and is looking forward to an exciting tour through Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany, to Berlin. our final destination are the "BMW Motorrad Days 2023", but before that we have to explore the route to Berlin. Let's see what the next days will bring...
The first Tour day:
Unfortunately, the weather was really bad today and so we left Munich in the morning in the rain towards Bolzano. On the way we had a lot of fun despite the bad conditions and drove along the Walchensee over the Timmelsjoch and through the Passeier Valley to Bolzano. Pretty wet but happy we are now looking forward to a hot shower and a cold beer. See you tomorrow ...
Rest day? Not with the group from Thailand! Of course, motorcycling was announced and so we left in the morning in the direction of Mendel Pass. The roads were still wet from the rain during the night, but that didn't matter with the traffic towards Penegal. The view at the summit was unfortunately clouded by dense fog. Now and then a ray of sunshine, but unfortunately not enough to enjoy the beautiful view. In the afternoon then pure sun and temperatures beyond the 25 degrees mark. After hundreds of curves we landed in the early afternoon back in Bolzano and spent the rest of the day with an exploration and shopping tour around the Walter - Square. Tomorrow we will head back to Austria. See you then, good night.
Due to the weather forecast, we started the day full of optimism. After a hearty breakfast and the obligatory morning briefing, we headed for the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The closer we got to the toll station, the darker the clouds became. Somehow the tour guide must have looked at the wrong weather app.10 km before reaching the high alpine road, it started to rain. What to do? Don't worry, it will be good. We bought our tickets and on we go to the Kaiser Franz-Josef height. Unfortunately, the visibility was getting worse and when we were finally up after what felt like an eternity, the visibility was zero. A fog soup in which one saw no 30m far.
Well, at least we could get some souvenirs and then we went back down in a blind flight. In the afternoon the weather god had mercy and spoiled us shortly before the hotel at the Traunsee, with a few sunbeams. Tomorrow it will be better ...
our first stop in teh morning at a view point in Engelhartszell, high above the Danube
Stop! Somehow the street ends here !?
If we cant move on over land, we will swap vehicles and take a boat to cross the Danube.
The group from Thailand on the ferry. Some hope to have soon solid ground again under the wheels.
The next country on our list. Welcome to the Czec Republic. More than half of the way to Berlin is done.
Of course, we visited the old town of Krumau.
and if we are already in Ceske Budejovice (Budweis), a boot beer is a must, after a long day on two wheels. Three guesses which beer it was...
On today's stage, "the golden city" (Prague) was our destination. In the morning we had a short coffee stop in Tabor, a cozy little town in the middle of the Bohemian Forest. There we watched the market people selling their local specialties before we headed towards the capital. Since the group decided to do some sightseeing in Prague , we arrived at the hotel at 2 pm. Afterwards we went on a discovery tour along the Vltava river and into the old town of Prague. Here are some impressions:
Yes and then it was finally time. We arrived tired but happy in Berlin. Our goal of the trip, which started 10 days ago in Munich, was reached without damage or accident. The BMW Motorrad Days 2023 are now waiting for us. A huge compliment to the group from Thailand who experienced 10 extraordinary riding days in 4 countries. You are great motorcyclists and it was a great pleasure to ride with you. Maybe we will see each other again on another Edelweis tour, who knows? We would be very happy.
Thanks a lot and see you again,
Nick and Tom
