BMW Days 2023 - Aventura en los Alpes

Tuesday, July 18, 2023 | Stefan Eisenbrandt / Thomas Repplinger | Europe

Day 1+2: Welcome to Berlin

The event that everything's about these days: the BMW Days in Berlin. For some, it's the end of their tour, but for our friends from Argentina, the fun  just begins. Together with over 300 people from all over the world, we meet for the first time today and get in the mood for our tour. After a city tour of Berlin, we then head to the BMW Days, where everyone has found his personal highlight, at the latest at the joint gala dinner with delicacies, music and dancing. A successful start to the tour

It's hot outside, so we're visiting the most important sights in the well temperatured bus.

Day 3: Berlin to Leipzig

As of today,

we're on two wheels. After everyone has received their bike of choice, we set off. First of all, we have to escape the wild hustle and bustle of Berlin. We stop in Lutherstadt Wittenberg for a meal and a visit to the historic old town. At the end of the day we arrive in Leipzig. The hotel at the impressive city hall is a good starting point to visit the city and not far from the pizzeria where we finish the day.

...we're all happy, talking about the riding day and looking forward to the next ones.

Day 4: Leipzig to Bamberg

Today we are driving from Leipzig to Bamberg. Almost 300 km to the south. Via Naumburg through the Schwarza valley towards Bamberg. Stops are planned today in Naumburg at the cathedral, and in Eisfeld at the memorial of the inner-German border.

Day 5: Bamberg to Neuburg a.d. Donau

It continues south. From Bamberg we're riding through Franconian Switzerland to Neuburg an der Donau. The roads are becoming more and more interesting and the landscapes in northern Bavaria are really impressive. Since it's a very hot day, we decide to take short breaks to arrive at the hotel early. A good idea, because the quiet town of Neuburg is really worth a visit. Some even use the time to cool off in the Danube. A great day with a nice mix of motorcycling, nature and city life.

Daily briefing in Bamberg. The anticipation is rising

Silvia and Paula plan the city walk in Neuburg. Willie and Guido already know the way, maybe.

What some people don't know: Danube water even stimulates hair growth

Day 6: Neuburg a.d. Donau to Warth

Today we will experience the typical Bavaria. Small villages, lush meadows with happy cows and everything that goes with it. We are getting closer and closer to the Alps. Around noon we reach the area around Füssen where we can take a look at Neuschwanstein Castle. Afterwards we drive through the Lechtal to Warth. Right in the middle of the mountains.

Day 7: Warth to Livigno

Today it's going to be diverse. Our route takes us through four countries in one day: Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Italy. On the way there are five wonderful pass roads where we can enjoy our favourite hobby

Day 8: Rest-Day in and around Livigno

Rest day in Livigno. Some make extensive use of the spa facilities at our tour hotel, some go shopping, but of course a large proportion explore the area around Livigno on their motorbikes.

An awesome and challenging road: Passo Morttirollo.
Italian road sign: Caution, fun!
Gustavo, Carina, Paula, Guido and Stefan are happy to have used the rest day for the Gaviapass
Tough decision for Gustavo. Who can continue to ride on his 1250GS? The beaver or Carina?
He decided in favour of Carina after all. But who knows, maybe Gustavo will return one day.

Day 9: Livigno to Seefeld

The best for last. Passo della Stelvio - The queen of alpine roads. Many many switchbacks and lots of fun. After that down to the sunken church at Lake Reschensee and up again via Reschenpass to Austria. Finally a magnificient view on a skywalk before we go to Edelweiss Headquarter in Mieming. That's the plan for today.

Day 10: Munich

The last day of our trip. Today we are going to Munich to the BMW Museum. What a great ending. Once again let everything pass in review and look at the 100 year motorcycle history of BMW. Afterwards we get some souvenirs and pack everything for the journey home. A great time comes to an end. Many thanks to the great group. Thank you for riding with us. We hope to see you again sometime on an Edelweiss tour and wish you all the best. See you soon, your tour guides, Stefan and Tom.

muchas gracias, hasta la vista
