The AMA Alps Challenge Part 1 in the second edition of this year.
Five riders from Utah booked this fascinating trip to feel the magic of the alps passes, switchbacks and endless curvy roads. Let the Challenge begin...
Our first day of driving started in bright sunshine in Erding and ended in Lienz in Austria. The weather was perfect all day. First we drove along the Chiemsee towards the Alps and then over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road to Lienz.
Riding into the heart of the Dolomites. Thats the goal of today. After some cruising upstream along the river Drau, we entered Italy and dived into the Dolomites.
The afternoon highlight was the famous Sellaronda. Four passes which are circling around the Sella , one of the mightiest rock towers in the Dolomites.
Day off? Not with us thought our group and decided within a second that we also ride motorcycles today. The tour guides had of course prepared something and so it went today towards Switzerland to surf some passes. Albula, Flüela, Ofen, Bernina to name a few....
Today, the most beautiful pass in the Alps for many bikers was on the agenda. Some call it "the queen of alpine passes". Passo Stelvio or as it is called in German: Stilfser Joch. It was pretty fresh up at the top of the pass and you can feel that autumn has arrived. Then we passed endless apple orchards in the direction of Timmelsjoch, where we made a detour to the Crosspoint Museum, before we drove to Sölden to the hotel.
