Christoph Columbus - Flamenco and Portwein CCC2302

Thursday, October 26, 2023 | Michaela Achatzi / Henning Sewöster / Mark Zaremba | Europe

The Christopher Columbus Tour starts with perfect weather conditions at the beginning of October. The best period of the year for tours in Andalusia and Portugal.

The group of 16 riders and 10 passengers from the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Costa Rica is looking forward to a "once in a lifetime" adventure at its best.

Let the ride begin!

Guided City Tour Malaga

On the day before we took off with our, 12 friends from the USA and Canada joined tourguide Mark on the Guided City Tour in city of Malaga -in the south of Spain- to explore the rich history and some local cuisine.

We started with a glimpse at the gate of the Mercado Central de Atarzanas, where the Moors went out of the city into the port, before it became the entrance of the oldest market of Malaga.

Unfortunately the bullfight arena was closed for public due to an event, but we had a view on the outside of the arena while enjoying a very good coffee before headint to the Gibralfaro. This is a fortress on top of the mountains, overviewing attacks from the mainland as well from overseas. The reigning power went over between the Moors and Romans couple of timesover the centuries, which is also very visible in the architecture in the rest of the city.

Just a short stroll took us to the Alcazaba, which is a fortress, where remains have been found dating from the 9th century! Can you even imagine?!

A nice lunch with delicious tapas let us continue into the Picasso museum and the birthhouse of this world-famous artist.

All a little bit sad that the time has gone so fast, but satisfied of the experiences during the last 10 days, we enjoy our last evening together.
