What a fantastic start in the new season 2024

The Canary Islands - the islands with continous spring feeling

day 1 - La Gomera
sunrise late in January
but the ferry still starts early to La Gomera
after the bikes are parked in the belly of the trimaran a late breakfast is waiting on board
impressive rocks - Rocce Agando
millions of years ago Europe was covered like this - the cloud forest
exiting the forest and reaching the north east end - Abrante
with this spectacular view

day 2 - La Gomera to Tenerife
morning loop back into the cloud forest and we did see (first time) the shy and endemic "Laurel Pigeon"

day 3 - Tenerife to Gran Canaria
early in the morning we were ascending Teide from the north through the the recently burned Corona Forest
layers of ashes and perfect roads in between
even with low temperatures (40°F) and strong chilly winds - a picture has to be
time for lunch

after the GC-70 we have reached the Parador "Cruz de la Tejeda" - and everyone got a room with this view

day 4 - a full day in Gran Canaria
Bandama Crater -1000m in diameter and a really deep hole
coffestop in a bar built in a cave, like many houses in this area
Rocce Nublo - the main sight of Gran Canaria
Rebecca on top of the island - 6200ft "Pico de las Nieves"
"Top Gear" recommendation GC-200 - but forever closed since 2019, too dangerous!

day 5 - Gran Canaria back to Tenerife
