Day 4 Alps and Lakes Tour CAL1201

Tuesday, May 22, 2012 | Marko Bauer | Europe

We have reached Kaprun, a wonderful mountain village surrounded by 10,000 ft peaks.

Yesterday's highlight was Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage Sight - we now know why. Beautiful is the right word!

Today we are headed for the Grossglockner, Austria's highest mountain pass!

---------------------------------------------

Today started out picture-perfect. A wonderful ride to the Eagle's Nest near Berchtesgaden in bright sunshine. The roads today can only be described with one word: breath-taking. But unfortunately you have to have rain once while you are in Central Europe - and this is what we had in the second half of the day. But the delicious pastries on the Post-Alm let everybody forget about that and the dinner with Salmon and Beef made up for everything!

The first Alps and Lakes Tour of 2012 has left Munich yesterday and has already reached one of the highlights of this tour: Salzburg. A perfect evening was the matching end for a great day. Six Harleys, and BMWs, Triumph, Ducati and Kawasaki are now ready for another beautiful day on this Germany-Austria tour.

Pat & I can't wait to start planning our next trip with Edelweiss. We both had such an amazing week. So many fantastic memories!!! Spectacular scenery, delicious food & the best part was the fabulous people we met. It all seems like a dream!! The rainy descent from Glossglockner as a passenger was an exhilerating experience I'll never forget - I'd do it again tomorrow. Thanks again Marko, Angela & Paul

What a great tour and what a great group! The entire week exceeded my wildest dreams! The scenery was fantastic, the food unbelieveable, the riding exquisite. And now I have a bunch of new best friends from Canada, Costa Rica, Israel, the US and Taiwan. The descent from Glossglockner was the highpoint/lowpoint at the same time. I think I'm a much better rain rider than I was before. Many thanks to Marko, Angela and Paul. The absolute best.

What a great week. Terrible weather on our Großglockner run only bonded us even more together. Conquering adversity put bigtime smiles of pride on all our faces. The sign-off dinner friday night was a wish-concert to just go on and never stop biking. Great group. Great time. can't wait to meet again. paulito
