This relatively short, but still very varied motorcycle tour takes you along magnificent lakes in southern Germany and Austria right into the heart of the Alps.
From Munich we ride across the Chiemgau region, past lush green meadows dotted with happy cows and through villages full of maypoles and onion-shaped church steeples. We visit King Ludwig’s impressive, though unfinished Herrenchiemsee Castle and the beautiful historic old town of Salzburg. After a night in the city of Mozart, we continue to the lakes of the Salzkammergut region, picturesquely embedded amongst the mountains. Here we visit the unique village of Hallstatt, so famous that a replica of it was built in China! We cruise along the deep blue lakes, circle the rock-andice giant named Dachstein and finally reach the foot of the Großglockner, Austria’s tallest mountain. Here we will spend a rest day where you can explore Austria‘s highest mountain, experience the unique High Alpine Road, and catch a glimpse of the country’s largest – although rapidly shrinking - glacier. Even a short detour to Italy is possible, more precisely to South Tyrol. A souvenir photo at the top of the Edelweiss peak is an absolute must for every motorcyclist in the Alps! This is an enjoyment-filled tour, well suited for passengers and relaxed riders who don‘t want to struggle with (too) demanding high alpine passes but still wish to experience the beautiful world of the Alps.

The daily riding kilometres are approximate distances and may vary. The first and last days mentioned in the itinerary are the arrival and departure days; there is no riding on these days. Arrival time should be arranged before 3 pm on the arrival day (Day 1). Bear in mind the time difference between your country of origin and your travel destination. Please book your flights accordingly. Route and overnight places may change due to unforeseen events.
When searching the internet to find a bike tour in Europe, one of the websites that I ran into was Edelweiss Bike Travels. I found several tours fitting my needs for my first trip outside my country and I remember all the questions and fears I had – all of which were answered and addressed by e-mails with love and care. When I finally registered for the Alps and Lakes tour I was so excited that I couldn‘t wait. The tour was something I remember a lifetime. Because our group consisted of 26 people on 16 bikes, we had 3 guides taking care of us. The sightseeing was unbelievable, the roads were great and, of course, the hotels, too. Edelweiss always knew what they were doing! I want to thank Edelweiss Bike Travel for the best vacation I have ever had … and I have traveled a lot in this world. It’s been two weeks since my trip ended and I wish I were still touring; I have many new friends from all over the world and I can‘t wait for my next bike tour, which will definitely be with Edelweiss Bike Travel – now that I know I can book a tour and feel calm, certain that the tour will be great and I will have the best time of my life.
Just wanted to thank you tour guides Paul and Alen for a wonderful week tour Alps and inland lakes. Great food ,nice hotels, don't think the scenery could get any better. Our two guides were the best of the best. Both seem to have extensive knowledge of the areas we went through. Easy to talk to and felt like close friends . The group I think had a wonderful time and we all interacted great together. Can't say enough good things about this trip and our guides.
