Art, Great Food & Savoir Vivre!

Welcome to France

Welcome to our Tour of Southern France. A place made for motorcycles with amazing roads, beautiful scenery and a great culture for us to explore.

Our Bikes safely arrived in St. Paul de Vence and are waiting for our guests.
Some of our guests arrived a day early. So Klaus, Marlene, Jörg and Daniel spent a wonderful extra evening in the first hotel of our tour.
Our first hotel in St. Paul de Vence was quite nice by the way, and it was a bit hard to leave behind, but a lot of great Tour Days lie ahead of us.
Our route will take us to some amazing places in the southeastern part of France and we will even do a little side trip to Italy.
After the rest of our guests arrived it was time for our Welcome Briefing in which Paul told us a lot about the French culture and the places we would go on this tour.
We had a little suprise for Marlene & Klaus who already did a lot of tours with Edelweiss.
After our briefing it was time to enjoy some of the French cuisine and some glasses of French wine.

Day 2: Vence to Saint-Michel-L Obervatoire

Our first photo-stop at the beginning of Gorges de Loup.
A remarkable series of waterfalls surging through a narrow ravine, surounded by walls of luscious vines and moss
Gourdon. An ancient walled city perched on the top of a mountain high above the Loup river. Officially this "eagle's perch" is classified as one of the "Plus beaux villages de France".
Another gorge. This time one of Europe's largest and most impressive: Gorges du Verdon.
800 m drop and a view that stretches for miles... a real vertigo moment!
A respite at Moustier-Saint-Marie, another contender for "most beautiful village in France".

Day 3: Saint-Michel-L Obervatoire to Avignon

Today we are heading further west into the Département Vaucluse with Avignon as our final goal for today.

Heute geht es weiter Richtung Westen in das Département Vaucluse mit Avignon als dem heutigen Tagesziel.

Our first stop of today is in a the beautiful little town called Roussillion where some of us used the time to have a little walk through the village, while the rest enjoyed their coffee.

There are so many beautiful little towns in France, Gordes was just one of them.

Lauren took this picture of the great view we had in Sault where we did our lunch break.

Sadly, we had a lot of fog while going over the Mont Ventoux, but the sheep didnt seem to mind. Luckily the view was great again once we got further down.

Paul organized some "Boot Beer", perfect refreshment after a nice day of riding.

Our Hotel in Avignon was impressive, the dinner and the staff just excellent.

Day 4: Avingnon to La Muse

Wine and agriculture are the hallmarks of this region.
La Chartreuse-De-Valbonne, founded in 1203, is an ancient monastery closely related to the cultivation of the infamous Côte du Rhone wine.
Enjoying a lunch break at a little way side restaurant.
Taking a short break from all the great riding to enjoy the view and celebrate the beauty of this route through the "Park National des Cevennes".

Day 5: Restday in La Muse

We spent our Restday in a lovely hotel in La Muse that even had a pool.

Unseren Rasttag verbrachten wir in einem bezaubernden Hotel in La Muse, das sogar einen Pool hatte.

While some of us used to rest day to relax and save their energy for the great riding days to come, others drove a little tour in the area.

One of the highlights in the area, apart from the great riding roads, is the enormous cave called Aven Armand filled with stalagmites and stalactites that was discovered 1897 by Louis Armand.

Klaus and Jörg with the two tourguides Paul and Daniel

Todd and Lauren decided to take a different route and discovered the Viaduc de Millau, one of the highest bridges in the world.

Viaduc de Millau... the longest diagonal-cable suspension bridge in the world.

Day 6: La Muse to Chabrillian

The famous "Pont d’Arc Ardeche"

Day 7: From Chabrillian to Chambery

It was a bit hard to leave our lovely hotel behind but a nice day of riding lay ahead of us.

What a nice view on top of the Col de la Bataille

  1. Paul prepared a great Picknick for us with some delicious French specialities.

Todd and Lauren at the well deserved coffee stop.

Edemar and Aline did a little walk in Chambery and discovered an elephant.

Very welcome refreshment after a nice day of riding through beautiful France.

Day 8: From Chambery to Arvieux

... and finally reaching the breath-taking pass: Col du Galibier (2642 m)

Day 9: Arvieux to Jausiers

For the first time on this tour we are having some bad weather.

Waiting for the rain to stop.

  • If you are in Italy you have to enjoy some real Italian food.

When we arrived at our lovely hotel the weather was perfect again so we could enjoy some drinks outside.

Marlene and Klaus after a challenging day of riding.

Ready for Dinner.

Edemar and Aline

What an amazing choice of cheeses.
