Da Nang has several very peculiar bridges. The most iconic is the Dragon Bridge, constructed between 2009 and 2012 over the River Han. The bridge is 666 m long and 37.5 m wide, accommodating six lanes for traffic. It was built in the shape of a dragon and each Saturday and Sunday at 9pm breathes fire and water.

Ankor was Cambodias centre of power from the 8th to the 15th century, where a series of capitals was constructed during the empire's zenith. In 2007 an international team of researchers using satellite photographs and other modern techniques concluded that Angkor had been the largest pre-industrial city in the world with an urban sprawl of 1,150 square miles. The city could have supported a population of up to one million people and Angkor Wat, the most famous and best-preserved religious temple at the site, are reminders of Cambodia's past as a major regional power. Angkor Wat was built by the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation – first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. It is the world's largest religious building. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors. Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early South Indian Hindu architecture. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.

The Indian district Phahurat is located close to the western part of China Town. Here you can shop excellent fabrics and clothes.
Or you can enjoy a boat tour on the Chao Phraya, visit Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Phra Kaew & Grand Palace, or even the Jim Thompson house…there are many things to see in Bangkok!
And for sure you can just relax at the Hotel's pool with the view on the Chao Phraya and have some nice drinks.

Kuala Lumpur a city of contrasts: New shiny skyscrapers next to shabby shags, 8 lane highways going through or flying over your head, colonial houses, leftovers of the old Chinatown, stylish shopping malls and shoemakers on the street…In 1857 the lengendary Captain China (Yap Ah Loy) developed further the tin prospector’s village at the junction of the rivers Gombak and Kelang. A tough and despotic Chinese, business-minded and with vision build up Kuala Lumpur to a tin metropolis. After his death in 1885 the Chinese predominance eroded and the British and Malay extended KL systematically to the capitol of Selangor and later to the capitol of the confederation of Malaysian states. Since then the city grew continuously and changed its face with any upcoming era, the industrialization, the modern Islam and the upcoming social middle class.

Lake Toba is the biggest lake in Indonesia and it is the biggest crater lake on earth. A huge crater lake with 87km length and 27km width in the former super volcano Toba which caused around 74.000 years ago the biggest eruption during the past 2 Million years on earth, according to scientists. A theory describes the cooling-down of the athmosphere due to the eruption and the influence on the later distribution of mankind on earth. Samosir island is located in the middle of this huge crater lake and has itself a size of 647km2 (size of Ibiza or Singapore). Mainly populated by the ethnic group Batak als some Europeans live here due to the pleasant climate on around 900 m.

Yogyakarta is the cultural heart of Java. It always strived for independence and when the Dutch occupied Yogyakarta in 1948, the Sultan locked himself up in the Kraton. Seen like a god by the Javanese the Dutch didn't dare to fight the Sultan and when independence came, Yogyakarta was granted the status of a special region. The Sultans palace or Kraton is effectively a walled city which is home to 25.000 people with its own market and all facilities like shops, arts industries, schools, mosques. The innermost group of buildings, where the Sultan still resides, was build in 1750s and displays one of the finest examples of Javanese palace architecture with luxurious halls, spacious courtyards and pavillions. Batik is one of the cities purist art forms and it is sold everywhere. However, we recommend to go first for the sunrise to Borobudur about 40km north-east of Yogya which is the biggest buddhist monument on earth. It was built in the 8th century by the Sailendra Dynasty. Estimates say that more then 10.000 workers were involved over 90 years to complete the complex with relief carvings. Soon after finalization it was covered for the next 1.000 years with ashes because of the eruption of the Gunung Merapi. First excavation started under the British in 1814 and continued with the Dutch in 1907. In 1973 a big restoration project started and for the next 10 years about 1.3 Million stones were cataloged, treated, cleaned and re-erected. Since 1991 this site is UNESCO world heritage.

With its 2.392m height Mt. Bromo is just midrange of Javas major peaks but it is the beauty of its setting which makes it so attractive. The steaming cone of Bromo stands in a sea of volcanic sand and ashes in the middle of the giant old Tengger crater with its surrounding towering cliffs. The immense size of the crater, the supernatural beauty and the highland light conditions sets the scene. And for the the Hindu Tengger people this is the holy place where they fled to when the Islam broke over the country in the 16th century. Below in the sand sea we see a temple of the Hindu Tengger.

The beautiful Hindu-Balinese temple Pura Ulun Danu Bratan with its multi-thatched roofs was built in 1663 on two small islands in the Danau (Lake) Bratan. Especially photogenic in the early morning bus loads of tourists try to capture the best picture.
