Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Walk of Fame, Universal Studios ... You’ve guessed it, we’re in Los Angeles. The list of attractions carries on and on, and we take the chance to visit them as we acclimatise to the American Continent.
The open road beckons and as soon as our bikes have cleared customs we head south along the coast. Riding through National Parks just north of the Mexican border it’s easy to imagine oneself on a set of one of the many thrillers set in this area.
Baja California is next on our route as we head south from Ensenada. This fascinating peninsula combines the best of sandy beach holidays with the stark beauty of a John Wayne Western. Arizona is just around the corner! Smooth tar roads intermingle with twisty gravel tracks, a huge playground for bikers. La Paz marks the southern tip of Baja California and the start of our ride on the Mexican mainland and our immersion into its fascinating culture.
Our ride will take us through a seemingly endless series of “bucket list” names, such as Guadalajara (birthplace of the Mariachis), the old town of Oaxaca and the ruins of Palenque. And somewhere along the way we will ride past mystical Popocatepetl.
It’s time to pick up the pace with a new country every two to four days. Along the way another sheer endless list of famous names: ancient Antigua in Guatemala, the ruins of Copan in Honduras, “La Gran Sultana”, the colonial city of Granada in Nicaragua ...
Enchanting towns and twisty roads through the Central American Jungle, riding between the Atlantic and the Pacific, life doesn’t get much better than this. As we ride south on the famous Panamericana we head for one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with a name that speaks for itself: Costa Rica.
After a few days on the Pacific coast we enter our last country of this section: Panama, and past the bustle of the Miraflores locks, Panama City. As we cross the Panama Canal with its millions of tons of transported cargo we think back to the myriad experiences along one of the most varied and impressive sections of the WORLD TOUR.
To participate in the Edelweiss World Tour sections you will need to bring your own bike. If you prefer to join with a rental motorcycle we can send you an offer on request!
